A discernment retreat is an important time to step back from your life, to reflect on the meaning you want to give it, to listen to God’s voice and let it guide you.
In our daily lives there is too much noise, too many worries, too much entertainment to discern God’s will for us.
We don’t just go on a discernment retreat if we feel a call to the priesthood, but quite simply if we want to become the protagonists of our lives, rather than being subjected to them.
Coming to Évron for a retreat means letting yourself be carried away by the atmosphere of the seminary, which is conducive to prayer and silence. It’s a rare opportunity to discern in a seminary and to see the daily life of the seminarians.
If you wish, you can even take part in their activities: working in the garden, attending classes, etc.
There are two possibilities to come:
On your own, at any time of the year.
During one of the two annual retreats: during the last week of Advent and during Holy Week, preached retreats are offered for discernment. These weeks, marked by an intense liturgical life and preparations for Christmas and Easter, are particularly conducive to discernment.
Guests share the seminarians’ life of silence, prayer and study: they are invited to attend daily Mass and services, and may take part in other activities: services, sport, work, relaxation, etc.
The hostel is a self-contained building, located within the grounds of the House of Formation. It has a dozen rooms. Bed linen and towels are provided.
As a rough guide, we estimate the cost of a 24-hour stay at 20 euros. By donating more, you are helping us to welcome those with less means.
